Pope Pius XII served as pope during the entirety of World War II. While diligent search of the archives can reveal no negative press published during his papacy, beginning in 1962, there is a veritable flood of negative information about his inaction toward saving the Jews from the Holocaust.
This information has created a worldwide controversy, splitting Jews and Catholics. In general, Catholics consider Pius XII (Eugenio Pacelli) a defender of human rights and specifically of the Jews. Due to the negative information promulgated worldwide, Jewish sentiment is the opposite, with a strong belief that he failed to act. One negative book even refers to Pius XII as Hitler's Pope.
Pave the Way Foundation has been researching this issue and has published a book entitled Pope Pius XII and World War II – The Documented Truth.
Gary L. Krupp, PTWF Founder, is delivering a series of lectures December 5th and 6th 2013, at St. John Fisher College and at the Jewish Community Center in Rochester. In these talks, Mr. Krupp will present documentation that his organization has collected in the past 8 years and simply ask the audience to come to their own conclusion.
Pave the Way Foundation undertook a major research project to investigate whether the negative reports on Pius XII were true or false, as this represented a major obstacle to Catholics/Jewish relations.
"The debate is over," says Gary Krupp. "Those who attack Pius XII still do not have a shred of documented evidence to support their claims. They base their theories on the books and research of historical revisionists whose research is weak and faulty. Every charge against Pius XII can be proven wrong. The problem is getting this information out there so that fresh, neutral minds can review and process it and render an opinion."
PTWF is recognized as a leader in researching and working to solve this controversy. For more information, visit www.ptwf.org.
