Paul S. Viviano Named Chair of Loyola Marymount Board of Trustees
LOS ANGELES, June 7, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Loyola Marymount University's Board of Trustees named Paul S. Viviano as board chair, succeeding Kathleen Hannon Aikenhead, who held the position for five years. Viviano's term began June 1.
Viviano, who serves as president and chief executive officer of Children's Hospital Los Angeles, has been a member of LMU's Board of Trustees since 2010. He also served on the university's Board of Regents from 2007-2010.

Viviano has served as chair of the trustees' Governance Committee and was a member of the Executive Committee and the Finance Committee. He has also served as chair of the Bioethics Institute Support Board, as a member of the Board of Regents' Executive Committee, and on the Government and Community Relations Committee.

Prior to joining Children's Hospital in 2015, Viviano served as chief executive officer of several major healthcare organizations: the UC San Diego Health System, Alliance HealthCare Services, USC University Hospital and USC/Norris Cancer Hospital. Viviano was a member of the St. Joseph Health System for 15 years, having served as president and chief executive officer at St. Jude Medical Center, president and chief executive officer of St. Joseph Hospital Orange, president and chief executive officer for the Southern California Region and as president and chief operating officer over the multi-state system.
Viviano serves on the Board of Directors for Alliance HealthCare Services and is chair of the Compensation Committee. He also serves on the board of the Hospital Association of Southern California, is chair of the Los Angeles Central Area, and is a board member and director for the California Children's Hospital Association.
Viviano is a native of California. He earned his bachelor's degree in political science from UC Santa Barbara and a master's degree in public administration and public health from UCLA. He and his wife, Carole, have two daughters and four grandchildren.
