COLUMBUS, Ga., July 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aflac, the company that pays cash benefits to policyholders fast when they are sick or hurt, announced today that company co-founder and Chairman Emeritus Paul Shelby Amos and Aflac Chairman and CEO Daniel P. Amos will be inducted into the International Worksite Marketing Hall of Fame by the Workplace Benefits Association. To be elected to the Hall of Fame, a member must have formed, altered, enabled or impacted the worksite landscape in the worksite marketing arena.
"Paul Amos helped build the supplemental insurance industry and Dan expanded it to a new level," said Walt Podgurski, chairman and CEO of the Workplace Benefits Association. "Their positive and far-reaching vision has helped grow the industry."
Paul S. Amos pioneered the concept of worksite marketing, developing Aflac's cluster-selling sales model, which led not only to dramatic growth of the company, but it also transformed the industry by providing a more efficient way to reach and service the millions of people who can benefit from supplemental insurance.
In 2000, Dan Amos launched the Aflac Duck campaign, which elevated the awareness of supplemental insurance to millions of consumers in the United States and Japan. The Aflac Duck has appeared in 50 television commercials, raising the company's brand recognition to more than 93 percent in the United States as well as the country's awareness of the product category.
Paul S. Amos and Daniel P. Amos will be inducted into the Worksite Marketing Hall of Fame on July 28 at the Workplace Benefits Mania 2010 convention in Las Vegas. They will join the late John B. Amos, co-founder and former chairman and CEO of Aflac, who was inducted with the inaugural class in 1999.
