WASHINGTON, Nov. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Economist Group has named Paul McHale as President of CQ Roll Call.
McHale, who has been interim Managing Director of the Washington-based information business since January, will report to Group Chief Executive Chris Stibbs.
"Over the past 10 months, Paul has spearheaded the transformation of CQ Roll Call. The company has returned to growth, and is exceeding projections at the halfway point of our budget year," Stibbs said. "His clarity of purpose in bringing change and attracting talent makes him the perfect guardian of these high-quality, independent media properties."
Previously, McHale was the group's global head of Human Resources, based in London, and has worked at the company since 1999.
"CQ Roll Call is a public trust, and I'm honored to be given the chance to strengthen and expand this business," McHale said. "Democracy works best when citizens have access to unbiased, independent information. These storied media properties complement the Economist Group's mission of offering insight and analysis to a global audience."
Born in Mayo, Ireland, McHale graduated from University College Dublin, with a degree in politics and economics. He began his business career at J Sainsbury PLC, the U.K.-based retail and financial services company.
Since January, McHale, 47, has overseen an increase in CQ Roll Call's delivery of digital information, which includes a redesigned CQ Weekly, expanded services covering state legislation and advocacy, and new mobile apps for both CQ.com and Roll Call.
"Paul is a results-based manager who has given CQ Roll Call the tools and resources we need to get our exclusive content to clients in new ways," said Chief Content Officer David Ellis. "I'm confident that he'll drive the company to greater growth, allowing us to reach new audiences inside the beltway and beyond."
