"D.C. Deal Makers of the Year" features attorneys who, according to the NLJ, "tackled some of the most notable transactions" last year, including complex mergers and acquisitions, real estate deals and project financing across a number of industries. The report highlights two deals in which Patton Boggs attorneys played pivotal roles, including advising the Republic of Cameroon on a $10 billion infrastructure project.
Messrs. Kapla and Boggs, part of a Patton Boggs team that has provided counsel to the Republic of Cameroon for many years, began advising the country last year in one of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects ever undertaken on the African continent, the Mbalam Iron Ore Project. "It's not a typical deal," said Kapla. "There is a race going on in Africa for all of the natural resources. For the first ones to get a deal like this to the coast, there is going to be a lot of success."
Mr. Proxmire and Ms. Gill successfully represented a client in a large contract dispute in the District of Columbia.
Commenting on the significance of the deals, Patton Boggs Managing Partner Ed Newberry said: "These deals exemplify the core strength that Patton Boggs has in serving clients – throughout the United States and around the world – on matters that arise at the intersection of business, government and the law. Whether down the street or halfway around the world, Patton Boggs can optimize results for its clients."
