Pattern Development Signs Agreement to Supply Power to Amazon Web Services from New 150 MW Wind Project in Indiana
Amazon Web Services will acquire power from Pattern Development's Fowler Ridge IV Wind project, to be renamed Amazon Web Services Wind Farm (Fowler Ridge)
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Pattern Energy Group LP ("Pattern Development" or the "Company") today announced it has entered into a 13-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply power to Amazon Web Services (AWS), an Amazon.com company. AWS will acquire the production from the 150 megawatt (MW) Fowler Ridge IV Wind project, to be renamed Amazon Web Services Wind Farm (Fowler Ridge).
Pattern Development owns 100% of the newly named Amazon Web Services Wind Farm (Fowler Ridge) project, which is located in Benton County, Indiana. Pattern Development expects to begin construction in April and anticipates reaching commercial operation in late 2015 or early 2016."We are excited to be working with Amazon Web Services as they progress toward their goal of using 100% renewable energy," said Mike Garland, CEO of Pattern Development. Upon completion, the Amazon Web Services Wind Farm (Fowler Ridge) project is expected to generate approximately 500,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of wind power annually – or the equivalent of that used by approximately 46,000 US homes. [1]
The Amazon Web Services Wind Farm (Fowler Ridge) project has been added by affiliate company Pattern Energy Group Inc. (NASDAQ: PEGI) (TSX: PEG) (Pattern Energy) to its list of identified Right of First Offer (ROFO) projects.
