ACWORTH, Ga., March 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- When he was hired for "packing and loading" back in 1983, Patrick Spencer never thought he would nab the Area District Vice President (ADVP) position in 2014. What started as "just a job" while attending college turned into more than 30 years of gaining U-Haul knowledge and experience, and demonstrating the excellent leadership that Spencer now brings to his new role as ADVP.
When asked what excites him most about the opportunity to serve as ADVP, Spencer says, "Just getting to work with everyone in the new District 20. I really like working with team members—in their training and development, and helping them to reach goals they never thought possible."
Most recently, Spencer was marketing company president (MCP) of U-Haul Company of Northern Georgia. He has served as storage manager and senior manager for U-Haul Company of Central Georgia, and shop manager at Atlanta Repair Shop. Spencer has held a variety of different positions including senior staff manager, area field manager (AFM), general manager (GM), storage manager and RV shop manager throughout U-Haul Company of Northern Georgia and U-Haul Company of Jacksonville.
Spencer plans on putting all team members' knowledge and experience to work expanding the companies within the district.
"The new District 20 has all of the ingredients to become 'the' district to be reckoned with. The team of people in the district are tremendously dedicated to U-Haul customers and the team is loaded with talented people. I was looking for a person that would understand the value of this team and a person that had the ability to provide leadership that would help the team reach their true potential," Executive Vice President (EVP) Chuck Hertzler explained. "Pat truly understands the value of customer service. More importantly, Pat understands that the only way to reach the level of service expected by our customers is to have a team that puts the customer first. His contagious enthusiasm, energy and willingness to help our team made him the obvious choice as the new ADVP of District 20," Hertzler affirmed.
