DES PLAINES, Ill., Sept. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Emergency Nurses Association today announced the election of nine emergency nurses to leadership roles within the organization. Patricia Kunz Howard, PhD, RN, CEN, CPEN, NE-BC, TCRN, FAEN, FAAN, of Lexington, Kentucky, was named 2018 President-elect. She will serve as the 2018 president-elect and the 2019 president of ENA.
Kunz Howard, the Director of Emergency Services at the University of Kentucky Healthcare, served as ENA President in 2005 and served on the ENA Board of Directors for three years. She has been a member of ENA for over 28 years.
Several other emergency nurses have also been elected to ENA leadership roles. Michael Hastings, MSN, RN, CEN, from Lynnwood, Washington, will serve a one -year term starting in 2018 as ENA's Secretary/Treasurer. Three new directors were also elected to serve on the ENA Board of Directors:
- Jennifer Schmitz, MSN, EMT-P, CEN, CPEN, CNML, FNP-C, of Cape Elizabeth, Maine
(Jan. 1, 2018 – Dec. 31, 2020) - Gordon Gillespie, PhD, DNP, RN, CEN, CNE, CPEN, PHCNS-BC, FAEN, FAAN, of Fairfield, Ohio
(Jan. 1, 2018 – Dec. 31, 2020) - Chris Dellinger, BSN, RN, FAEN, of Mineral Wells, West Virginia
(Jan. 1, 2018 – Dec. 31, 2018)
Three emergency nurses were elected to serve two-year terms on the ENA Nominations and Elections Committee. These regional representatives are:
- Julie Miller, BSN, RN, CEN, of Manhattan, Kansas (Region 2)
- Kristie Gallagher, MSN, RN, EMT-P, CEN, EMS-I, FAEN, of Toledo, Ohio (Region 4)
- Melanie Gibbons Hallman, DNP, CRNP, CEN, ACNP-BC, FNP-BC, TCRN, FAEN, of Warrior, Alabama (Region 6)
- Matthew F. Powers, MS, BSN, RN, MICP, CEN, FAEN, of Pleasant Hill, California, was elected to serve as a Past Board Member for the ENA Nominations and Elections Committee.
