She also served as the principal medical officer at Vangent, Inc. and as the chief medical officer of APCO Worldwide, a public affairs and strategic communications firm. A specialist in rheumatology, Dr. Nayyar maintains an active practice while serving on the medical school faculty at Florida International University and George Washington University.
A member of the advisory board of the Healthcare Information and Management System Society (HIMSS), Dr. Nayyar speaks frequently to major industry forums and is widely quoted in healthcare trade publications. She was named one of the "Top 25 Minority Healthcare Executives" by Modern Healthcare and nominated as one of the publication's "Top 100 Influencers in Healthcare." In addition, she was recognized as one of the "Top 12 Powerful Women Voices in Healthcare Innovation and on Twitter in 2012" by MedCity News.
