PATH Foundation Reaches "Make the Connection" Campaign Goal of $14.3 Million
ATLANTA, June 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The PATH Foundation announced today that it has reached the $14.3 million goal of its "Make the Connection" campaign.
This milestone enables PATH to establish Atlanta's trail hub at Centennial Olympic Park and create 37 additional miles of trails, including a new six-mile trail along the length of Georgia 400. Upon completion, PATH will have developed a network of more than 200 miles of trails throughout Metro Atlanta that connect to the Atlanta Beltline, as well as outdoor destinations such as Panola Mountain State Park, Stone Mountain and more.
"PATH has been making Atlanta a better place for more than 20 years, and this milestone will help it continue to promote healthy lifestyles, enhance community spirit and bring neighborhoods together," said Jim Kennedy, chairman of Cox Enterprises. "In addition to its passion for trails, the organization is deeply committed to completing projects on time and under budget. PATH is environmentally and fiscally sustainable."
"PATH builds much needed trails in our city to connect people with nature and each other," said Ed McBrayer, PATH Foundation's Executive Director. "This would not be possible without our dedicated board. They have tirelessly advocated for the importance of trails to improve quality of life in our region. I'm especially grateful for Jim's leadership and commitment as chairman of all of our capital campaigns. Jim and the Cox family have been our largest donors to PATH's trail-building projects over the past two decades, helping to make PATH's long-term vision a reality."
In addition to an anonymous donor, the following organizations provided key gifts of $1 million and above: the James M. Cox Foundation, The Kendeda Fund, the O. Wayne Rollins Foundation and the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation.
PATH offers a free app in the App Store and Android Market that provides GPS directions and information about its trails. Additional information can be found at pathfoundation.org
