Passware Partners with Guidance Software to Bring Encrypted Evidence Discovery and Analysis to EnCase
ORLANDO, Fla., May 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Computer and Enterprise Investigations Conference (CEIC) -- Passware, Inc., a provider of password recovery, decryption, and electronic evidence discovery software for corporations, law enforcement organizations, government agencies and private investigators, today announced a partnership with Guidance Software, Inc. to expand encrypted evidence discovery and analysis in the upcoming release of EnCase v7.
Both companies have joined efforts to introduce a unique comprehensive solution for electronic evidence discovery, decryption, and investigation.
"As encrypted electronic evidence becomes more common in computer forensics, it is hard to overestimate the need to handle such evidence efficiently," said Passware President Dmitry Sumin. "EnCase customers can find and analyze more encrypted evidence by using Passware Kit Forensic for decryption or password recovery."
"We've extended our ability to handle encrypted data by integrating with Passware," said Steve Salinas, product marketing manager, Guidance Software. "Investigators often find cases with protected files and don't have a password or credentials. Upon the release of EnCase Forensic v7, users will be able to identify protected files through the integration with Passware Encryption Analyzer."
In phase one of the electronic evidence analysis process, users can export detected files to Passware Kit Forensic for decryption. Once Passware removes the protection from the file, it is then sent back to EnCase for further processing.
Passware's time-proven technology, which supports more than 160 different file types and applications, allows digital investigators to find and analyze encrypted electronic evidence. The encrypted evidence analysis technology will be integrated with EnCase 7 and accessed within EnScript language. It provides immediate encryption analysis of suspected files with further password cracking and decryption using Passware Kit Forensic.
