Passionate Pittsburgh Bid Wins One Young World Summit 2012
ZURICH, Sept. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --Pittsburgh has been crowned as the new host city for One Young World Summit 2012 after delivering a bid of "unparalleled passion".
David Jones and Kate Robertson, co-founders of One Young World, today announced that Pittsburgh has been selected as host of the 2012 gathering of the best brightest, most engaged and connected young leaders. Their bid was supported by congressman, senators and no fewer than three presidents of the United States of America.
This announcement comes at the end of three days in Zurich, Switzerland where over 1200 young leaders from 170 countries, the most countries represented in any global event other than the Olympics, have gathered in Zurich, Switzerland to ratify a series of constructive resolutions for a better planet and more accountability and transparency in every area of life.
One Young World delegates are selected for their leadership potential; many have already had an impact in their home countries on a range of issues, including the role of business in society, transparency in business and government, the impact of climate change, global health and hunger relief.
One Young World is the game-changer where tomorrow's leaders start leading and acting to create the world they want. It is also a demonstration of Havas's commitment to and understanding of the new more socially responsible world of business.
Speaking to delegates tonight David Jones, Global CEO of Havas, said: "It was a compelling bid from Pittsburgh and tonight is clearly a triumph for their passion. One Young World is a movement that exists to affect positive change and Pittsburgh will offer a truly inspiring platform to motivate young leaders to act."
