LOS ANGELES, Jan. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- An esteemed lineup of Olympic, business, political and community leaders will come together this Thursday evening to honor longtime LA84 Foundation President Anita DeFrantz for three decades of service, and to officially welcome Renata Simril as LA84's new president and CEO. Ms. DeFrantz's pioneering work has allowed LA84 to serve more than four million children annually by providing opportunities for children to participate in sports, solidifying LA84 as the nationally recognized leader in elevating the importance of sports in positive youth development.
The passing of a torch from the 1984 Games by Ms. DeFrantz to Ms. Simril will symbolize the arrival of the next generation of leadership.
Speakers will recognize the LA84 Foundation as a symbol of the lasting legacy of the successful 1984 Olympic Games, and look to the future as Los Angeles prepares its bid to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games once again.
