PASCO Calls for Applications for 2013 PASCO/NSTA STEM Educator Awards
ROSEVILLE, Calif., Aug. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In partnership with the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), PASCO® is proud to announce the call for applications for the 2013 PASCO STEM Educator Awards. These annual awards, which are judged by a panel of experts appointed by NSTA, recognize excellence and innovation among STEM (science, technology, education, and math) educators at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.
Each year the PASCO STEM Educator Awards recognize five educators with a prize totaling approximately $4,500, which includes:
- $1,000 cash award
- $2,000 certificate for PASCO products to further support their STEM program
- Up to $1,500 for travel expenses to attend the NSTA national conference, where they will participate in a STEM "share-a-thon" workshop and be recognized at the NSTA Awards Banquet.
"We are honored to partner with NSTA to offer this recognition to innovative teachers who have created exciting ways to engage students in authentic, inquiry-based STEM learning," said Paul Stokstad, PASCO president and founder. "As schools around the country work to build strong STEM programs, it's important that we recognize the efforts of educators who are leading the charge, and share their work with others in our education community."
K–12 educators who would like to apply for this award will submit a program description along with examples that show how students in their program are addressing real-world problems using STEM applications.
PASCO and NSTA will actively promote the winning STEM programs and educators, providing program descriptions and materials via their websites to serve as a resource for STEM educators everywhere.
