Pascal Metrics Welcomes Jim Conway to Leadership Team as Principal
Conway to head Pascal Metrics' newly formed Governance & Leadership Group
WASHINGTON, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Pascal Metrics is delighted to announce the appointment of Jim Conway as Principal leading its Governance and Leadership Group, effective immediately. The newly formed Governance & Leadership Group advises boards of directors and senior executive leaders in healthcare on how to execute data-driven patient safety and quality programs in order to reduce risk, lower costs, and improve clinical outcomes, service delivery and the experience of patients, family members, and staff.
Drew Ladner, Pascal's President and CEO, said, "We are honored to have Jim on our leadership team. The extraordinary experience and insight he brings will enable Pascal even more effectively serve clients from the bedside to the boardroom – especially as the latter increasingly understands the enormous opportunity to reduce costs by managing risk differently."
Mr. Conway, a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), Trustee of Winchester Hospital in Winchester MA, and adjunct lecturer at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, was Senior Vice President of IHI (2006-2009) and Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (1995-2005) after a 27-year career at Children's Hospital in Boston. Mr. Conway is internationally recognized as a preeminent advisor to executives and boards of directors in healthcare. His additional areas of expertise and interest include patient safety, change management, as well as patient- and family-centered care.
Dr. Allan Frankel, Principal and Co-Lead of Pascal's Clinical Group with Dr. Michael Leonard, stated that, "Jim's work is a big reason why boards, leaders, and staff in healthcare today have prioritized patient safety and quality. We are absolutely delighted to bring together Jim's ability to engage boards with what we're already doing to help clinical and executive leaders use data to drive performance improvement." Dr. Leonard added that, "Now senior executives are recognizing that managing culture-driven and related risk is not a 'nice-to-have' but, rather, is foundational to the success of Six Sigma, Lean, and other initiatives. Those who want to be high performers in a more challenging environment have no choice but to get this right."
Mr. Conway is the winner of numerous awards including the 2008 Picker Award for Excellence in the Advancement of Patient Centered Care and in 2009, the Mary Davis Barber Heart of Hospice Award from the Massachusetts Hospice and Palliative Care Federation. He holds a Master of Science degree from Lesley College, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Commenting on his new role at Pascal, Mr. Conway explained, "When it comes to eliminating patient harm, implementation driven by data at leadership and frontline levels is essential. Pascal's offering and roadmap empowers just that, and I'm very pleased to work alongside Pascal colleagues as we help boards translate sound governance into execution that makes a difference."
