ADDISON, Texas, Nov. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Partnership With Native Americans (PWNA) encourages everyone to give back this season as a participant in the Newman's Own Foundation Challenge for #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to promote philanthropy and generosity around the world.
PWNA can earn up to $10,000 in matching funds for donations made between Nov. 24 and Dec. 1, as part of the Newman's Own Foundation Challenge.
Funds raised through the Newman's Own Foundation Challenge will be put toward PWNA's food and water initiatives, supplying food boxes for pantries, serving individual families in need and preparing meals for Native American communities living in poverty or "food deserts."
"PWNA is grateful to have been selected by Newman's Own Foundation," said PWNA President and CEO Robbi Rice Dietrich. "These potential funds are critical for us to carry out our mission of championing hope for the 60 remote, isolated and impoverished reservations we serve, and improving food security and quality of life for the Native Americans living there."
PWNA provides immediate relief to Native American communities through goods and services delivered year round for nutrition, health, education, animal welfare and emergency relief. PWNA also supports long-term solutions such as scholarships, training for grassroots leaders and community investment projects to help end the cycle of poverty.
Taking place on Dec. 1, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the first Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season. The day is designed to inspire people to collaborate on improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to those charities and causes they support.
Donations for the Newman's Own Foundation Challenge will be hosted on CrowdRise, an online crowd fundraising platform for nonprofits. PWNA is one of 24 organizations selected to participate this year by Newman's Own Foundation, the independent foundation created by late actor and philanthropist, Paul Newman.
To help achieve PWNA's challenge goal, please visit www.crowdrise.com/pwna4hope and make a donation between Nov. 24 and Dec. 1.
