WASHINGTON, March 3, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, the Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA), a nationwide effort sponsored by America's biopharmaceutical research companies, unveiled a redesigned website with new features and functionality to provide patients and caregivers with faster, easier access to information on more than 475 public and private patient assistance programs.
Since its launch in 2005, PPA has provided a platform to engage, educate and empower patients and caregivers to access more information about their prescription assistance options. PPA has connected more than 9 million Americans who are uninsured or lack adequate health care coverage to programs that provide prescription medicines for free or nearly free.
As part of the website's relaunch, information on how uninsured patients can access health care coverage is provided along with interactive content on how to improve health for patients of all ages. The website also includes information on more than 100,000 free health care clinics throughout the United States.
"For nearly 10 years, PPA has assisted struggling patients who need help accessing their medicines," said John J. Castellani, president and CEO of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). "Together with our member companies, we have worked tirelessly to make sure patients across the country are aware of assistance programs through PPA, and we will continue to do so."
PPA also has a robust presence on Facebook and Twitter to provide patients and caregivers with real-time information on the program and other consumer health initiatives.
