Partner Trevor Wommack Strengthens V&E's Finance Practice in Houston
HOUSTON, Jan. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Vinson & Elkins has bolstered its highly regarded Finance Practice Group with the addition of partner Trevor Wommack, who focuses his practice on syndicated lending in the energy sector.
Wommack, who joins the firm from Bracewell, will be based in V&E's Houston office.
"Trevor is widely recognized as a leading energy finance attorney and we are pleased to welcome him to the firm," said V&E Chairman Mark Kelly. "His talent and experience will enhance V&E's impressive Finance Practice."
Wommack, who is ranked in Chambers USA, Texas, Banking & Finance, 2013-2015, handles a wide range of lender-side work in the energy space, with particular emphasis on upstream exploration and production reserve-based financings.
His experience includes work representing foreign and domestic lending institutions as administrative agents in connection with upstream, midstream and energy services credit facilities, including revolving loans, term loans, letter of credit facilities, swingline facilities and bank guarantee facilities. Wommack has also represented lenders in workout and pre-bankruptcy situations.
"V&E's reputation and the caliber of its Finance Practice have always been particularly impressive to me," said Wommack. "Over the years, I've had the opportunity to work across from several of the firm's outstanding attorneys, and I am excited to join the team."
Wommack has represented a number of major institutional lenders, including Bank of America, JPMorgan, Macquarie, Societe General and Wells Fargo.
His past engagements include representation of Wells Fargo as administrative agent in an upstream exploration and production reserve-based $500 million senior secured credit facility to a private equity-backed energy company focused in the Wattenberg Field in Colorado's DJ Basin; and representation of Wells Fargo as administrative agent in connection with a $1 billion revolving credit agreement subject to an oil and gas reserve-based borrowing base to Triangle USA Petroleum Corporation.
"Trevor is an outstanding lawyer who has a reputation for excellence among clients and colleagues alike," said Erec R. Winandy, co-head of V&E's Finance Practice Group. "He has the qualities we want in a partner and adds additional depth to our robust Finance Practice."
Wommack received his J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law and holds dual bachelor's degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
V&E's Finance Practice Group consists of more than 50 attorneys. The group is active in a diverse array of financing transactions, and is particularly strong in the energy sector, where it represents arrangers, mezzanine investors and other alternative lenders, financial sponsors and corporate borrowers throughout the energy chain, including upstream oil and gas, midstream, refining, oilfield services, power generation and distribution and renewables.
Chambers USA 2015 recognizes V&E's Finance Practice Group as a "high caliber team that assists both users and providers of capital in a comprehensive range of transactions." That range includes syndicated commercial bank financings, asset- and reserve-based financings, project financings, structured financings, acquisition financings, private placements, capital market debt offerings, mezzanine and second lien loans and restructurings of all types.
