Parker Pens Gives Holiday Shoppers Something to Write Home About
Put pen to paper this season at iconic company's new NYC pop-up store
NEW YORK, Nov. 29, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- When it comes to holiday gift giving, it's truly the thought that counts. And what could be more thoughtful than a handwritten note that shows how much you care? The next generation knows it's not all about "hurry, quick, fast" typed messages. A true luxury—and the most authentic expression—comes from taking a few minutes to write out what you think and how you feel.

What's also indisputably "now" is a pop-up shop that embodies modern luxury. This season, Parker Pens will help consumers put their thoughts into words at the first-ever Parker pop-up store* in the Time Warner Center's Shops at Columbus Circle, bringing the art of fine writing to one of New York City's chicest establishments. Here, shoppers can try out Parker writing instruments and write a free New York City-skyline postcard that says "What if writing home was just like being there?" for family or friends, and Parker will mail it for them.
In addition to the postcard program, the pop-up store allows shoppers to enter the entire Parker world and live a unique experience by selling its assortment of sleek pens, with one for every style and price point, which includes the Parker Premier, Sonnet, and new premium finishes of Sonnet, Urban, Parker IM, Vector, and Jotter, not to mention the new Parker Premier Black Special Edition! These Parker signature models, and holiday pop-up shop atmosphere, deliver a modern and distinctive vision of the brand.
Parker also will offer its leather goods, cufflinks, and pen cases, previously unavailable in the U.S., in this elegant, warm environment complete with a gift-wrapping station and writing area.
The Parker Pens pop-up store can be found just inside the main entrance of the Time Warner Center's Shops at Columbus Circle in New York City. It will be open for a limited time, from now until January 31, 2011. The free postcards (limit ten) are offered while supplies last and must be completed at the pop-up kiosk for mailing.
Also in Columbus Circle, on the evening of December 7, 2010, Parker will showcase the winning messages in its Write Big event from 7-10pm. Entrants worldwide were asked to complete the statement "What if...." The thirty most creative, relatable messages submitted by people around the world will be projected onto the exterior of the Museum of Arts and Design** building in a cutting-edge, 3-D-animated movie. In addition, a single overall winner (randomly chosen) will receive a trip to New York City and a Parker Premier Black Edition pen.
A historical connection between New York and Parker is key to the brand's iconic design, in fact, the trademark Parker feathered arrow clip was created in 1932 by famous NYC artist Joseph Platt.
Parker pens are available at fine pen shops and specialty retailers nationwide, with prices from $21 to $375. For more information, go to www.ParkerPen.com.
