Parker & Sons Offers Energy Saving Tips for the Winter Season
PHOENIX, Sept. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Although the majority of people living in the Phoenix area rely on Parker & Sons to take care of their electric, cooling, and plumbing needs, the company also offers affordable heating services. As we begin to move from the summer to fall season, Parker & Sons representatives have recently released a few ways in which you can reduce your heating bill this fall and winter to not only save money, but be more environmentally savvy.

One of these ways, which takes little to no effort, is opening all of your window curtains/blinds that face south. Parker & Sons claims that, by doing so, you will be letting all of the natural sunlight that is received during the daytime to warm your home. Therefore, you will be saving money that you would've spent during the day, while continuing to heat your home accordingly throughout the night. However, Parker & Sons employees have been careful to take the physical location of your house into account when they began to release these tips. They go on to say that if your house does not receive a substantial amount of natural sunlight to warm your home during the colder seasons that you should lower the temperature on your thermostat anywhere between 10-15 degrees for at least eight hours a day. You can also use this tip in addition to opening your blinds/curtains for an even warmer room.
Parker & Sons also pushes that you should be turning your water heater to the warm setting, rather than the hot setting. For most water heaters, this temperature is usually anywhere between 115-125 degrees. By turning down the temperature, you'll still be receiving hot water, just at a lower cost than settings at a higher temperature.
Finally, Parker & Sons mentions that changing your holiday lights to LED lights will greatly reduce the cost of your winter bill. They also mention that you should be turning these lights off before you go to bed. Despite how beautiful these lights may look when contrasted against a dark night's sky, it's both relatively dangerous and expensive to leave them on all night long.
