PARK Delray Beach Announces New "Smart-Parking" Payment Solutions
Delray Beach Makes Parking Easier, More Convenient and Seamless for Customers
DELRAY BEACH, Fla., Nov. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- PARK Delray Beach, in conjunction with The City of Delray Beach, is pleased to announce a host of new parking payment options and technology, including Pay-by-Plate and Pay-by-Phone solutions, to provide residents and visitors of Delray Beach with more user-friendly, convenient parking options.
"As Delray Beach has grown from a little City to a little 'big' City, parking demand has grown, evolved and become impacted," said Jorge Alarcon, Chief Parking Administrator of the PARK Delray Beach program. "We are pleased the City Commissioners, Staff, and the Delray Beach community have come together to support the PARK Delray Beach program in its efforts to incorporate new, user-friendly technology that addresses today's parking demand and dynamic in the Downtown, and satisfies our valued customers' needs for a seamless Downtown parking experience."
Several system upgrades have been planned and are underway. A Multi-Space Meter (Paystation), for example, that employs innovative, proven technology to yield a myriad of customer convenience options. The new Paystations are easy to use, flexible and suitable for both on and off-street parking applications, and include Pay-by -Plate and Pay-by-Phone options. The Pay-by-Plate technology allows parkers to simply enter their license plate into the Paystation. This alleviates the need for customers to walk back to their vehicle to place a receipt on their dashboard; a long walk indeed.
For those customers with smartphones, Parkmobile's seamless Pay-by-Phone app allows registered users to pay for their parking quickly and easily; right from their phone. The app also helps parkers avoid citations by letting people extend their time without having to run back to their car. Parkers can simply "opt-in" to receive a notification 15 minutes before their parking "session" expires, and extend their parking remotely without having to head back to their vehicle. The Parkmobile app is available for free download with iPhones in the App store and for Android at Google Play.
The Smart Parking Meters are enforced by the time limits for each zone on a daily basis. Payments can be made quickly and easily for all on-street metered parking throughout the City. Parkers can also pay with bills, credit and debit cards.
"Making the parking process more convenient for our valued residents and visitors, helps not only our parkers, but also the businesses and shops they frequent," said Delray Beach Mayor Cary Glickstein. "Our goal is to help make the lives of Delray Beach citizens and visitors easier."
Atlantic Avenue has been particularly impacted over the years, thus, the City's goal is to ensure businesses can get more customers to their front doors - more quickly and seamlessly. New LPR (License Plate Reader) technology was introduced accordingly that identifies the length of time a vehicle has been parked in a space so PARK Delray Beach Ambassadors can enforce overtime parking in highly impacted zones.
The City is working with a third-party Operator, Lanier Parking Solutions, to ensure and facilitate the system upgrades and updates. Additional improvements also include a gate-less technology system for the Old School Square Garage, a first for Palm Beach County, as well as an LPR application that identifies all cars entering and exiting the facility.
