Whilst parents will have a strong sense of the dynamics in their own family, there is relatively little published scientific information that quantifies this, and presents it on a population basis. What is the study about?
This study is designed for parent participation and uses a proven scientific tool, the Family Assessment Device (FAD) to explore a range of topics such as communication, roles and responsibilities and behavioral control. MyFampal intends to explore similarities and differences between UK and US families and changes in dynamics since the FAD was first researched in the early 1980s.

What should parents expect?
The FAD is a comprehensive 60 question online survey and should take about 10 minutes to complete. Once a parent has entered their family data anonymously, and the study recruitment target has been reached, analysis will begin. Parents can also choose whether to receive their individual results for comparative purposes or only see the overall sample results once the analysis is complete.
