Parent Union to Highlight School Choice, Quality Education Options with Community Fair
LAKE ELSINORE, Calif., Jan. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Riverside Parent Union will host its first National School Choice Week celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19. The informational fair will take place at the Independent Church of Lake Elsinore and will feature presentations on school choice and quality public education options.
Confirmed speakers for the event include Tonya Burke, retired Perris City Councilwoman, and Rene Rodriguez, Spanish Minister at the Lakeside Baptist Church.
Local schools, non-profit organizations, and businesses, including Youth Planet, Vista Community Clinic, and Elsinore Valley Municipal Water Department, will have informational tables at the fair. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with community organizations that can build their family educational goals, as well as to participate in the fair's contests and raffles.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"We will be celebrating school choice by inviting families and local organizations to learn more about school choice in California and collaborate to expand educational opportunity," said Christina Laster, member of the Riverside Parent Union.
The Riverside Parent Union exists to support parents in choosing the best educational environments for their children. The Riverside Parent Union support parents whose children attend district schools, public charter schools, online learning programs, and home-schooled programs.
