Paralyzed Veterans of America President Attends Run Across America Celebration

WHAT*: Extreme athlete and civilian George Chmiel embarked on an awareness and education expedition on 9/11/16 in San Diego, CA. As he has run across our nation, he has visited a VA hospital and visited with countless veterans along the way, documenting his journey and shining a light on the very real crisis of veteran suicide and PTSD. Chmiel will make his final state crossing into New York via the George Washington Bridge bike path, before embarking on a Unity Walk with citizens and partners to Ground Zero, and concluding with a public speaking event in Liberty Park. We invite you to be a part of this momentous conclusion, and hear from veteran service organization partners on what this journey has meant to veterans. See the attached primer for more details.

About Run Across America:  On September 11, on the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, extreme athlete, George Chmiel, embarked on a 3,000 mile cross-run from San Diego, CA to Ground Zero in New York City. This intercontinental outreach expedition is designed to raise awareness about the veteran suicide crisis in the United States and the many challenges our soldiers face reintegrating into civilian life, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Chmiel's Run Across America effort operates under the Guardian for Heroes Beastmode for the Brave cause marketing program.
