Paragon Legal Answers Growing Demand With New Vice President of Client and Attorney Development
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 30, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Paragon Legal, one of the nation's fastest growing alternative law firms, today announced it has appointed Gregory D. Wong, Esq. as vice president of client and attorney development. Paragon provides senior counsel to Fortune 500 and emerging growth companies on a project basis. With demand for these services rising exponentially year after year, dedicating an experienced business development professional to expansion and relationship management will allow the company to better address the increasing needs of in-house legal teams.
More companies are seeking alternatives to traditional law firms due to the tremendous cost and lack of reliable access to senior-level legal counsel. In addition, many top attorneys are leaving big law behind for more agile firms to practice cutting-edge law and gain greater control over their careers. This investment in client and attorney development gives Paragon a competitive edge by ensuring the demands of existing clients are met, while also attracting new clients and more of the field's best talent.
"Our clients will benefit immediately from having Greg join the team. His in-house experience with start-ups and large public companies gives him extensive insight into the needs of corporate legal departments," explained Mae O'Malley, Paragon's founder and managing attorney. "Plus, as he helps Paragon develop new, more collaborative relationships with legal teams at premier companies, our attorneys will gain an added advantage as well."
Before joining Paragon, Mr. Wong was both the director of business development and a legal director at Yahoo! Inc. Prior to that, he served as vice president and general counsel of Engage Corporation, a venture-funded personals and social media internet site that was acquired by Spark Networks. He has also been a corporate associate with Morrison & Foerster, LLP and an associate with Proskauer Rose, LLP. Mr. Wong clerked for the Honorable Aubrey E. Robinson, Jr. of the Federal District Court for the District of Columbia, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Cardozo School of Law.
"I am thrilled to direct client and attorney development at Paragon," said Wong. "By eliminating the partner-associate hierarchy and huge cost structure of the traditional law firm, Paragon has become a pioneer in the field and created a unique win-win for clients and attorneys. With senior attorneys that understand their needs, our clients are able to ramp up quickly and reduce their dependence on expensive outside counsel. At the same time, our attorneys enjoy challenging work with leading companies along with unparalleled flexibility and control. I look forward to expanding our relationships with clients, continuing to attract the best attorneys, and evangelizing this innovative model."
