Parago Leverages PayPal to Extend Greener Consumer Promotions
Paperless rebate payouts via PayPal's Open Platform deliver on consumer demand for reduced waste
LEWISVILLE, Texas, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Parago (www.parago.com), provider of innovative reward programs that drive behavior and promote brand loyalty with consumers and sales channels, today announced that it will now offer rebate payouts through PayPal's online payments service. This move will eliminate the need for printed paper checks, envelopes and postage to mail rebates, resulting in more eco-friendly promotional programs and truly green initiatives.
Parago's clients will now be able to offer their customers the choice of receiving direct rebate payout into an existing PayPal account, rather than having to wait for the payment to arrive in the form of a paper check or prepaid card via mail.
"We work closely with appliance manufacturers, retailers, recyclers and utilities, and there is a large and growing market for energy conservation incentives and rebates. It is only natural that green initiatives be delivered with a green incentive," said Juli Spottiswood, Parago President and Chief Executive Officer. "We are very proud to announce that because of our new program with PayPal, Parago is now able to offer the choice of completely paperless rebate programs in which consumers can redeem their rebates online without mailing receipts or UPCs, and receive their payments online, too."
Parago has been a leader in paperless promotions since the launch of its first paperless rebate promotion in 2004. Its paperless rebate solutions offer rebates that are redeemed through a simple online platform rather than the traditional mail-in process. Customer satisfaction with the program has driven strong returns and also created longer-term customer loyalty for Parago's clients. Earlier this year, Parago surpassed the 35 million mark in total paperless rebates processed since it launched its new and innovative offering, which translates to a savings of 60 tons of paper annually and more than $12.5 million in consumer postage cost since 2004.
With more than 84 million active accounts in 190 markets and 24 currencies around the world, PayPal enables global ecommerce. The company's open payment platform, PayPal X, allows developers to build innovative payment applications on multiple platforms and devices.
"Consumers enjoy and demand the convenience of online payments and this offering with Parago will truly help deliver on green initiatives," said Osama Bedier, PayPal's vice president of platform, mobile and new ventures. "The combination of paperless rebate submissions and electronic payments makes perfect sense in the ongoing effort to provide greener solutions. This is another example of how PayPal X is revolutionizing payments."
Parago's paperless rebate solutions provide a host of benefits to clients. Internal research determined that consumers consider ease of submission the most important element of submitting rebates, ranking higher than even the amount of the rebate and speed of payment. Because Parago's paperless solutions deliver on this consumer preference, it has driven improvements in consumer satisfaction scores for Parago's clients. Paperless rebates also present a range of additional integrated marketing opportunities to clients. The web-based, interactive nature of paperless rebates provides an ideal platform to deliver important information to the customer, such as cross-selling of associated products or services and additional offers. In fact, the average paperless rebate offers clients 10 more communication and brand touch points than paper-based rebates.
