HOUSTON, Oct. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Paradigm® (www.pdgm.com) announces the release of the latest extension of its Paradigm 14 solution suite. This version, Paradigm 14.1, enables broadband processing, High Definition (HD) imaging, quantitative interpretation, and advances toward high-definition earth modeling. The new HD modeling improves the accuracy of production forecasts with models that are more closely representative of actual subsurface conditions. Honoring both seismic data and geology allows users to better quantify uncertainty in their reservoir, resulting in lower-risk reservoir management decisions, and better production planning and forecasting. Building on the company's heritage as an advanced science leader, this release allows customers to further integrate Paradigm science with even more software platforms, with the release of a new Petrel plugin.
"Our latest release enhances our model-driven solutions for high definition exploration and development," said Somesh Singh, chief product officer. "Our customers have told us they have significant investments in both legacy and new seismic acquisitions and are now looking to focus on deriving the most accurate understanding of their reservoirs. The advancements in SKUA-GOCAD to more highly refine earth models are a natural extension to the high definition processing, imaging and interpretation capabilities we released in April."
Some of the most significant enhancements in this release are in the Paradigm SKUA-GOCAD™ modeling suite, including:
- Enhanced modeling for unconventional plays, including microseismic data analysis, patented stimulation path generation, and stimulated rock volume assessment.
- Structural uncertainty modeling, allowing geoscientists to assess the impact of fault and horizon positional uncertainty on reservoir volumes, fault seal capacity, and flow simulation results.
- Restructuring of SKUA's volumetric interpretation capability to fast track interpretation and interpretation validation in depositional space, as well as the introduction of a new fault likelihood attribute for semi-automatic fault interpretation.
"The Paradigm 14 release is heavily focused on data preservation, data recovery, and data resolution," said Duane Dopkin, executive vice president of Geosciences." Paradigm is committed to helping its customers improve their return on investment for their E&P data assets, and this release strongly reinforces this commitment."
This release is a natural extension to the high-resolution seismic processing and imaging capabilities released in April, including broadband seismic processing, enhanced full azimuth imaging and inversion solutions, and full azimuth tomography QC. The new release lets users extend their workflows by using SKUA-GOCAD earth models to delineate with high fidelity the most relevant geological features of the subsurface.
Paradigm 14 offers improved data communication between the Paradigm StratEarth® well log correlation solution and the Paradigm Epos® infrastructure and data management system. In addition, geologic interpretation in StratEarth has been enhanced by support for raster logs, zone track improvements, and other new capabilities.
Other new features in Paradigm 14 include:
- Easy transfer of surveys and interpretation picks between Petrel and Paradigm Epos, using a Petrel plug-in.
- Stratimagic® seismic facies classification as the first plug-in to the new Paradigm Epic open and integrated platform, enabling personalized and flexible window organization.
- Prestack gather preconditioning, stacking and inversion in the SeisEarth® 3D Canvas in support of Quantitative Seismic Interpretation workflows.
Geolog® 7.2, the latest version of the industry's leading system for formation evaluation, is being released in tandem with Paradigm 14. In this offering, Epos Project and Geolog Project are combined, providing a single Epos Project database that can be used by both application suites. Other enhancements in Geolog 7.2 are:
- New interactive 3D borehole image displays
- New access controls in the Epos database
- Support for raster loading
- Assessment of uncertainty on predicted logs in Facimage
Paradigm 14 will be featured at SEG 2014 in Denver, booth #623, IX Congreso de Exploracion y Desarrollo de Hidrocarburos in Mendoza, Argentina, booths #18, 19 and 25, and PETEX 2014 in London, booth #C11.
