Paradigm Announces Foundation Dedicated to Community Service

Supporting First Responders is the First Priority

MIDDLETON, Wis., May 3, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Paradigm announces the formation of the Paradigm Foundation, a charitable initiative dedicated to serving Dane County and the surrounding region.

By focusing on "positive change in our community, one donation at a time," Paradigm CEO Nathan Herbst explains that creation of the Paradigm Foundation was inspired by acts of heroism exhibited by more than 350 first responders during a September 19, 2018, workplace shooting at the company's Middleton, Wis., headquarters.

"The Paradigm Foundation will elevate Paradigm's longstanding commitment to charitable giving in our community," Herbst says. "The selfless response during a moment of crisis last September punctuated the need to give back to those who serve and protect us every day, so we're making our community's first responders the focus of the Foundation's inaugural campaign."

The first campaign has kicked off with a matching gifts challenge in which Paradigm will match the first $100,000 in donations dollar-for-dollar. Donations received to date will allow the Paradigm Foundation to support three critical needs in the nearby community.

The Middleton Police Department will receive $45,000 toward the purchase and training of a new K9 unit.
Pending formal approval from the Dane County Board, a donation of $104,000 to the Dane County Sheriff's Office will go toward the purchase of additional protective equipment and first aid kits that are not fully funded by the County's budget.
A donation of $8,250 to the UW Emergency Care and Trauma Symposium will be used for the purchase of 250 "Go Bags" containing first aid tools and supplies for trauma nurses and EMTs. Many who will attend the symposium are volunteers and would otherwise have to purchase these items on their own.

Looking ahead, Herbst says the Paradigm Foundation will continue seeking opportunities to give back to the community. "Our company and its employees have consistently supported a variety of causes, such as animal welfare, environmental initiatives, and kids in tech. The Paradigm Foundation provides a sustainable framework to identify and support causes like those – and others – that make our communities a better place to live."
