Panolam Industries' High Pressure Laminates Receive Third-Party Certification From the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
SHELTON, Conn., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Panolam Industries' Nevamar® and Pionite® High Pressure Laminates (HPL) have received Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification through the SmartWood program of the Rainforest Alliance, the world's premier certifier of non-timber forest products. FSC is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world's forests.
"The FSC certification is further confirmation of our environmental leadership in the decorative surfaces industry," said Robert Muller, Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Panolam Industries. "We're especially pleased with the timing, since it coincides with the 'Nevamar® by Panolam' debut in Europe and with our international growth plans."
The FSC certification validates Panolam Industries' commitment to producing environmentally friendly products. What's more, the Rainforest Alliance's global presence is consistent with Panolam Industries' expansion strategy. The company launched its "Nevamar® by Panolam" line in Europe in February and the Pionite® Motion line of HPL products in March.
The Rainforest Alliance pioneered forestry certification on a global scale in 1989 with the launch of its SmartWood program and was one of the founders of the FSC. The FSC's ongoing monitoring, evaluation and research are designed to give meaning to and ensure the success of its certification. The FSC certificate registration code number for Nevamar® and Pionite® is SW-COC-004037.
"This is important recognition from a global third party," said Jeff O'Hearn, Panolam Industries' Corporate Environmental Engineer. "We're committed to preserving the environment, and the FSC certification tells customers throughout North America and Europe that they can rely on us for products that promote sustainability."
All Nevamar® and Pionite® High Pressure Laminate products also meet the low-emission standards certified by GREENGUARD. Because Panolam Industries formulates its own resins, the company can be sure its manufacturing processes are environmentally friendly. Its uses recycled or renewable resources to help preserve forests and promote a healthier environment.
Panolam Industries has engineered and manufactured high-quality, innovative surfacing solutions for virtually any environment for more than 60 years. With an extensive line of High Pressure Laminates, Thermofused Melamine and specialty products available in hundreds of colors and styles, Panolam Industries provides the vision, value and versatility that designers, architects, manufacturers and contractors are looking for.
