Pango Launches 21st Century New Mobile Parking Permit System in Butler, Pennsylvania
Mobile Parking Trend Expands in the Greater Pittsburgh Area
NEW YORK, Aug. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Pango, headquartered in New York City, will launch a new mobile payment system for parking permits, with Windows phone technology, in Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, September 2, 2014.
Permits are a major revenue source for Butler's parking revenues; however, the management of the permit process today is costly and time consuming. The City of Butler has to manually issue, manage, and enforce parking permits. Residents and businesses have to personally go to the City offices to register and pay for their permits.
With the launch of Pango, the City of Butler will be given a twenty-first century parking permit system that makes it convenient for residents and business to register and pay for a permit using their mobile phone, saving them time and substantial money. All the permitting management and enforcement process is automated and on-line, eliminating the once-required paper permits, making the process a much more efficient and convenient one.
"Parking permit revenues are the largest source of Butler's Parking Authority's revenues," said Jeff Smith, Treasurer, for the City of Butler, "The Pango mobile system takes parking to permits to a whole new level of convenience, efficiency, and accountability for both the city and our permit holders."
The permit system will be piloted for a few weeks, and then Pango rolls out citywide. Butler is the second city to launch Pango in the greater Pittsburgh area. The trendsetting City of Latrobe broke ground by launching Pango first.
"Cities like Butler and Latrobe are the new world trendsetters to watch," said Neil Edwards, President of Pango, "These two cities are rebooting one critical part of their transportation systems — parking — with Pango."
