NEW YORK, Dec. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- PANGAIA launches globally.
PANGAIA is a global collective of people with one mission - to accelerate the world's transition to responsible production and consumption.
Starting with basic clothing, PANGAIA aims to create a global open source platform for the latest eco innovations and solutions connecting like-minded individuals and organizations who care about the environment.
Philanthropic efforts of the Collective are deeply embedded into its DNA, with the first year focusing on the global issue of ocean plastic pollution. From launch, 1% of proceeds from each PANGAIA product will be donated to 5 Gyres, a non-profit organization that empowers action against the global health crisis of plastic pollution through science, art, education, and adventure, maintaining a special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
PANGAIA is also committed to a zero waste circular system and has joined forces with US-based The Renewal Workshop to make sure that each PANGAIA piece lives on by either being repaired and upcycled or recycled on behalf of the consumer.
First products
The PANGAIA collective brings together scientists, technologists, artists and designers to create a sustainable wardrobe made from renewable and alternative resources, bio and lab grown materials.
Woven with the latest eco-innovations in materials science the core PANGAIA collection is designed to be lived in and functional for all aspects of life.
The first PANGAIA product category being launched is a collection of wardrobe essentials, ranging from $150 - $900 and is a result of several years of research on circular practices by the Collective. Using bio-based and post-consumer recycled materials and plastic bottles, the collection is comprised of T-shirts, hoodies, track pants and puffer jackets; with accessories and other product categories being released in early 2019.
First drop: t-shirt, hoodie, track pants
The first drop includes a T-shirt, hoodie and track pants, ranging from $150 - $300.
T-shirts consist of 20% seaweed fiber. Each piece is finished with a peppermint oil treatment, which allows anyone to wear a fresh T-shirt without washing, up to 10 times.
The hoodie and track pants are made from recycled materials and plastic bottles — they feel natural and help to reduce the amount of plastic waste on the planet.
All garment logos and prints are done using water based PVC-free ink and also respect the Restrictive Substance List.
Every PANGAIA product comes in TIPA packaging, a bio-based, plastic alternative, which fully disappears within 24 weeks in your compost bin.
PANGAIA aims to be radically transparent and provide visibility about all stages and sources of its European production. All PANGAIA products have an Near Field Communication (NFC) technology tag. By scanning it with the PANGAIA app, customers can check authenticity and unlock information about each product.
Limited release: flower down jacket
PANGAIA reveals a puffer jacket filled with wild flower down — a breakthrough vegan technology launched exclusively by the Collective. The puffer jacket shell is made from post-consumer recycled materials and plastic bottles, and filled with wild flower down resulting in a 100% cruelty free alternative to traditional winter wear. Light and warm, the flower down puffer is a result of over 10 years' worth of scientific research by members of the Collective.
Collection preview
PANGAIA previewed the collection last month at ComplexCon, where it was met with enthusiasm by musician and entrepreneur Pharrell Williams, artist Takashi Murakami, actor and entrepreneur Jaden Smith, fashion expert Sarah Andelman, model Jessica Hart, stylist and consultant Christine Centenera and more.
