Panda Cloud Antivirus Outperforms Symantec, Kaspersky, McAfee, Trend Micro and Others in its First AV-Comparatives.org Test

ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Panda Security today announced Panda Cloud Antivirus, the world's fastest growing cloud-based anti-virus, has achieved the Advanced+ rating in the latest "On-demand Detection of Malicious Software" test from the independent review lab AV-Comparatives.org. Marking the first time Panda Cloud Antivirus has participated in an AV-Comparatives.org test, the product extended its reputation for providing superior detection by outperforming numerous competing free and paid anti-virus solutions.

The test compared Version 1.5.1 of Panda Cloud Antivirus to 19 other free and paid anti-virus programs. Panda Cloud Antivirus successfully detected 99.3 percent of the more than 200,000 samples used by AV-Comparatives.org, performing better than solutions from Symantec, Kaspersky, McAfee, Trend Micro, Microsoft, AVG and others and reinforcing the product's powerful protection capabilities.

The AV-Comparatives.org tests also examined false positives, which the lab recommends people consider when evaluating products as they can sometimes cause as much trouble as real infections. Panda detected all but one clean file as malware, whereas other free anti-virus solutions such as Avast and AVIRA had 10 or more false positives, and AVG and Symantec reported 51 and 57 false positives, respectively.
