Panda Cloud Antivirus Honored in Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Awards
Panda Security recognized as a runner-up in the network security category
ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Panda Security, The Cloud Security Company, today announced that Panda Cloud Antivirus, the company's free cloud-based antimalware solution for home computer users, has been chosen as a runner-up in the network security category as part of the prestigious Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Awards.
"We are proud to receive this award from the Wall Street Journal," said Juan Santana, CEO of Panda Security. "Not just because we have been selected from among so many well-qualified candidates around the world, but because this international recognition validates our strategy. By moving the 'heavy lifting' of malware protection to the cloud, we are able to deliver high levels of protection without impacting the performance of users' systems, both in our home user and corporate solutions."
"An economic downturn simply couldn't constrain the awesome innovation energy that exists around the world," said Scott D. Anthony, general manager of Innosight Ventures and a member of the awards jury. "It gives one a lot of hope for the future. A number of the applicants have the potential to literally change the world."
Wall Street Journal considered 597 entries from companies, organizations and individuals across 30 countries this year. After evaluating each candidate, editors sent just 275 to a panel of judges comprised of individuals from research institutions, venture capital firms and other interested organizations. The jury ultimately determined that 49 candidates were deserving of the award, including Panda Cloud Antivirus.
The jury assessed each entry based on a number of key criteria including: if the product breaks from conventional ideas in its field; if it exceeds marginal improvements to existing technologies; and whether it will have an impact on future technology sectors. The awards will be presented at two ceremonies: the first in Copenhagen, Denmark, on October 14, and the second in conjunction with the Dow Jones VentureWire FASTech Conference on November 3 in Redwood City, Calif.
