Panasonic Announces Platinum Power AA and AAA Alkaline Batteries, which Protect Power for up to 10 years

COLUMBUS, Ga. and NEWARK, N.J., Feb. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic Energy Corporation of America today announced the introduction of its AA and AAA Platinum Power batteries, alkaline battery cells that protect power for up to 10 years¹.  These batteries also feature enhanced storage capabilities and safe, stable power features.

The new Platinum Power AA and AAA battery cells were designed for high drain devices with greater power consumption such as radio controlled toys and game controllers.  Platinum Power batteries can also be used in everyday medium and low drain devices including flashlights, remote controls and thousands of other products.

Panasonic Platinum Power batteries come packaged in standard four and eight pack sizes and a wide variety of multi-packs with up to 24 cells or more.  The four pack AA size will have a MSRP of $3.99 and will be available from retail and online stores nationwide.

1. Protect Power for up to 10 Years
   Platinum Power Alkaline AA and AAA battery cells  protect power for up to ten years on AA and AAA, up to seven years on C and D, and up to five years on 9V batteries, when unused and stored properly.
2. Enhanced Storage Capabilities
   New electrolyte and alloy components combined with new production techniques helps Panasonic's Platinum Power cells to provide increased levels of leak protection.  This technology is especially important when battery cells are subjected to over-discharge during use or long periods of storage.
3. Safe, Stable Power
   Utilizing proprietary polarity technology helps Panasonic Platinum Power battery cells to reduce bursting or other malfunctions if the battery cells are installed incorrectly.  A strong internal structure also allows these batteries to supply stable conductivity even after being dropped from a distance of three feet².
