"I am so excited that my blog won P&G's GIVE HEALTH Blogivation. Thank you so much to all of my readers and supporters who stuck with the competition to the end and continually spread the word about the importance of clean drinking water," said winning blogger Pamela Crane of Blood:Water Mission. "Together we worked to bring safe water to people in need through P&G and Blood:Water Mission. Thank you!"
During the three week contest, the P&G GIVE HEALTH Blogivation connected more than three million people in over 80 countries to the issue of clean drinking water through personal stories from inspiring bloggers who shared why they are passionate about bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in need. Through an innovative widget tool, the GIVE HEALTH Blogivation enabled readers to vote for their favorite blogger and share their story on social networks, with P&G donating a day's worth of clean drinking water for each vote.
Pamela Crane will join P&G's CSDW Director Dr. Greg Allgood on an expedition to Kenya in early November to assist CSDW and its partner World Vision's efforts to bring clean drinking water to people in Mombasa. The P&G team will be joined by humanitarian photographer Cate Cameron, who lent her storytelling and photos to the Blogivation, to capture images of the trip. The public will be able to follow Cate's story from Africa and read Pamela Crane's exclusive blogger's account of the expedition on the digital storytelling portal. In addition P&G will donate $15,000 to Pamela Crane's nonprofit, Blood:Water Mission, to help further its clean water efforts.
"One of the ways that P&G is helping address global issues is to use our marketing expertise to raise public awareness," said Dr. Greg Allgood, Director of P&G's CSDW. "Through the P&G GIVE HEALTH Blogivation we demonstrated how passionate people can be a valuable partner in raising awareness and engaging communities to help fight the global clean water crisis."
P&G created the GIVE HEALTH Blogivation as a unique social media engagement campaign to empower female bloggers to use their personal voice to raise awareness for the issue of clean drinking water, and bring their readers into the effort by donating a day of clean drinking water for each vote. Working with its partner Changents.com, the Blogivation also used the power of digital storytelling to share the behind the scenes stories of P&G employees and partners tackling water issues around the world to help inspire bloggers to get involved and be a part of the solution.
