PALO ALTO, Calif., July 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MacArthur Park's tour of America's Regional Cuisine & BBQ takes a trip around the country delving into our proud food heritage. At each road trip stop, they investigate a new region and pair BBQ selections with seasonal produce to create a menu that reflects iconic BBQ favorites.
A creative beverage program complements each menu. After all, can one think of Kentucky Derby without a Mint Julep? The prix fixe menus feature a choice of starters, entrees and desserts, featuring the rich history of each region.
Their first stop was New Orleans where they paid homage to Mardi Gras in The Big Easy, offering diners a choice of Cajun Barbecued Oysters, Cornmeal Crusted Whole Mississippi Catfish, Duck and Andouille Sausage Gumbo, and Bourbon Baby Back Ribs. The bartenders mixed Hurricanes and Sazeracs made with Craft American Rye Whiskey. The second stop, just in time for the Derby, was the southeast; focusing on Kentucky and the Carolinas. They offered Mini Hot Browns, Low Country Shrimp and Grits, Carolina Style Smoked and BBQ'd Spare Ribs. Dessert featured a choice of Moon Pie or Coca-Cola Cake.
Now through August, it's Texas BBQ. Things heat up with Sam Houston's namesake BBQ sauce, smothering their Smoked Beef Ribs. Touches of Texas include pepitas and ancho chili in their Rio Grapefruit Salad, and traditional Sopa de Lima. Texas style desserts include Cinnamon Churros with Dulce de Cajeta or their house made Antonio's Pecan Pie. In the bar: Tito's Texas Tea and a Texas Lemonade spiked with Bulleit Bourbon to name a few – to be enjoyed on their patio.
Chef-owner Faz recalls; "MacArthur Park has always been about BBQ, and smoking American style. Along with our Signature MacPark Baby Back Pork Ribs, we love bringing forth bold flavors and subtleties of regional American BBQ." Faz looks forward to future regions such as Chicago, the Southwest, Hawaii and DC.
