PALMco Energy Partners with DonorsChoose.org to Match Donations to all Environmental Science Education Projects in Connecticut Schools
PALMco's $11,000 match donation will bring the energy supply company's total contribution to DonorsChoose.org to over $85,000, helping to support over $170,000 in classroom resources
CONNECTICUT, Dec. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- PALMco, a family-owned and -operated energy supply company, announced today it will match citizen donations to all environmental science education projects in Connecticut schools in partnership with DonorsChoose.org, a non-profit crowdfunding platform where teachers can request classroom resources. As part of the DonorsChoose.org "Double Your Impact" initiative, PALMco will provide $11,000 to support a dollar-for-dollar match when donors contribute to Connecticut environmental science projects. This partnership is the fourth initiative between PALMco and DonorsChoose.org, bringing PALMco's total matching contributions to $86,000 and helping to support $172,000 worth of classroom projects.
"At PALMco we believe that education is the key to every family's success and that a strong community is one that comes together to ensure that all its students have the resources they need to be successful in life," said Robert Palmese, President of PALMco. "As a family owned and operated company, we know it is imperative to invest in our children's future. That is why we are thrilled to partner with DonorsChoose.org and to work with them to provide critical resources for students and educators. Every dollar put towards education is an investment in our communities' future. Only by working together can we achieve the success we want in our communities."
The "Double Your Impact" initiative allows partners like PALMco to match individual donations dollar for dollar, effectively doubling the impact of each donor's donation. In order to maximize the impact, PALMco has selected to match donations given towards environmental science projects that cost a total of up to $800 at underserved schools in the state of Connecticut. The three previous donations by PALMco to DonorsChoose.org have totaled more than $75,000 to reach over 30,000 students by completing funding for over 300 projects at high poverty schools. By the end of this latest campaign, PALMco will have contributed $86,000 to help support $172,000 worth of classroom projects across Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
This partnership is a continued initiative of "PALMco Cares," a larger effort to give back to the communities in which PALMco operates. Launched in December 2013, PALMco Cares' inaugural campaign donates $1 per month for each participating gas and/or electric account to the American Childhood Cancer Organization (ACCO). Since then, PALMco has been active in other community organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, USO, and Habitat for Humanity.

About DonorsChoose.org
Founded in 2000 by a Bronx history teacher, DonorsChoose.org has raised $488 million for America's classrooms. Teachers come to DonorsChoose.org to request the materials and experiences they need most for their classrooms, and donors give to the projects that inspire them. To date, 2.3 million people and partners have funded projects on the site, reaching 20 million students and making DonorsChoose.org the leading platform for supporting U.S. public schools. DonorsChoose.org is the only crowdfunding platform that vets each request, delivers materials directly to schools, and captures the impact of every funded project with photos, thank yous, and a cost report showing how each dollar was spent. In 2014, DonorsChoose.org made the top 10 of Fast Company's list of the World's Most Innovative Companies, the first time a charity has received such recognition.
