JERSEY CITY, N.J., Oct. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- PALMco Energy, a family-owned and -operated energy supply company, announced today a donation of $5,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Hudson County in Jersey City, New Jersey to support afterschool programming. On Friday, September 30th, over a dozen PALMco Energy team members visited the afterschool program to assemble 144 individual backpacks with the necessary supplies to support students throughout the school year.
PALMco Energy, as part of its PALMco Cares program, an ongoing effort to give back to the communities in which PALMco serves, worked with the Boys & Girls Club of Hudson County to identify the needs of its afterschool students and provide them with supplies necessary for a successful school year. All of the supplies were individually packed into the backpacks onsite at the afterschool program by the Palmco Energy Team and then handed out to each of the students. PALMco Energy's donation will also support Boys & Girls Club's core afterschool programming, such as SAT preparation courses.
"Every student deserves to have the resources needed for school, and we hope that with these backpacks filled with new school supplies, we will help the students of the Boys & Girls Club of Hudson County get excited about learning," said Robert Palmese, President of PALMco Energy. "As a family run business, we understand the importance of investing in our communities and ensuring that we put extra care into supporting young people so that they can be successful in life. We couldn't be happier to work with the Boys & Girls Club of Hudson County and we look forward to continuing our partnership in the years to come."
The Boys & Girls Club of Hudson County serves thousands of youth each year with quality afterschool programming for students in kindergarten through high school. All students are provided with a safe place where they can learn and grow – all while having fun. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging, and influence.
"The young people served at the Boys & Girls Club are blessed to have corporations such as PALMco ensure they have the supplies needed to have a productive year in school. Their unconditional support is appreciated and cherished," said Gary Greenberg, Executive Director of Boys and Girls Clubs of Hudson County.
This partnership is a part of PALMco Cares, an ongoing effort to give back to the communities in which PALMco serves.
