Paley Center Announces Program and Attendees for International Council Summit on Future of News
"News at the Speed of Life" will gather executives, journalists, and thought-leaders for interactive forum on April 26 in Madrid streamed live online
NEW YORK, April 12, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Paley Center for Media, the premier nonprofit forum for the media industry, has set the program for the next gathering of its International Council (IC), an independent forum dedicated to providing common ground for the global media industries. In partnership with PRISA, one of the leading Spanish- and Portuguese-language media groups, the Paley Center's IC2012 Madrid will convene 60-70 top media executives, frontline journalists, news innovators, and thought-leaders in Madrid on April 26 for a summit on the future of the news business.
Titled "News at the Speed of Life: A Global Conversation on the Reinvention of Journalism," the day-long summit will address the challenge of engaging the next generation of news consumers; the latest innovations for producing and distributing news content; and new approaches to monetizing and sustaining quality journalism, among other pressing topics. With presentations to illustrate new ideas and business models, and a rigorously democratic format in which everyone will have a microphone and an opportunity to contribute, the program promises to be a truly interactive conversation.
"At a time when technology has revolutionized access to news and information—and disrupted the business models supporting it—sustaining quality journalism is more vital than ever to the cause of democracy," said Pat Mitchell, president and CEO of The Paley Center for Media. "The leaders and innovators participating in IC2012 Madrid are some of the best minds in the business, and a testament to the International Council's reputation for convening top executives from around the world to explore the challenges and opportunities of disruptive, transformational changes in the media industry."
This event will be live streamed free of charge beginning at approximately 9:15 a.m. Central European Daylight Time, and archived segments of the event will become available for viewing as the day progresses.
