Pajama Program and Sam's Club Announce "Stuff a Bus" Event August 18 - 26
NORTH DAYTON, Ohio, Aug. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The national non-profit Pajama Program and Sam's Club of North Dayton are combining efforts to collect new pajamas and new books for children during a one-week "Stuff a Bus" event beginning August 18. Sam's Club hopes to collect 3,000 new pajamas and 3,000 new books for children in need.
There is an urgent need to collect new pajamas before "Danger Season" starts in October when temperatures begin to dip. The children, particularly those living in temporary arrangements and waiting to be adopted, feel the frigid temperatures and benefit directly from the contributions.
A pajama-decorated school bus will be parked at each Sam's Club location for the duration of the week-long promotion. Donors are asked to drop off a pair of new pajamas or a new book on the bus. Pajama Program and Sam's Club will deliver the gifts to local children in need at the end of the campaign.
About Pajama Program
Pajama Program provides new pajamas and new books to children in need, many who are waiting to be adopted. Some of these children live in group homes, shelters and temporary housing facilities and are shuffled often from one place to another. Many of them have been abandoned, abused or neglected, most have never enjoyed the simple comfort of having a parent tuck them in at night with pajamas and a bedtime story. Pajama Program has 64 chapters in 34 States and operates three Reading Centers: New York, NY, Yonkers, NY and Red Bank, NJ. Around the U.S. our local chapters have begun organizing reading groups for the children we serve in their communities. Pajama Program has provided more than 1 MILLION new pajamas and new books to children nationwide.
