Pacifica Institute, UCLA and SDSU Present Lectures on Turkey
LOS ANGELES, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Turkey's current political outlook is the subject of two lectures by Ahmet T. Kuru, Assistant Professor of Political Science at San Diego State University.
The talks titled "Democratization and Civil-Military Relations: Changing Dynamics in Turkey" are hosted by the Pacifica Institute along with the Department of Political Sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and San Diego State University (SDSU) respectively. The Distinguished Professor Richard Baum will moderate the UCLA event.

Prior to his position as Assistant Professor of Political Science at SDSU, Kuru was a Postdoctoral Scholar at Columbia University. He received his PhD from the University of Washington, Seattle, and there won the American Political Science Association Award for Religion and Politics for his dissertation. He is the author of "Secularism and State Policies toward Religion. The United States, France and Turkey" (Cambridge University Press, 2009).
