Pacific Marine Credit Union Raises $14,000 for Rady Children's Hospital

OCEANSIDE, Calif., Dec. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- GOBankingRates client Pacific Marine Credit Union (PMCU) raised $14,000 from November 7 to 14 for Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego through its sponsorship of the 13^th annual AJ's Kids Crane. In its sixth consecutive year as event sponsor, the 12-branch credit union has collected more than $53,000 for the fundraiser and toy drive.

During this event, PMCU works with Energy 103.7 radio personality AJ Machado who lives up on a crane in the parking lot of the IKEA in Mission Valley until he collects 100,000 toys or raises the funds to purchase the toys. Organizers give all collected toys to children at the hospital throughout the year as a reward for bravery, a "bribe" to take medicine or simply for playtime.

PMCU Chief of Staff Brad Smith said the credit union believes in the importance of giving back to the communities it serves. "AJ's Kids Crane is a way for us to support Rady Children's Hospital and assist in sustaining this vital community resource," he said.
