LAS VEGAS, July 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Clinicians supported by Pacific Dental Services and serving as PDS Institute® faculty members shared their clinical and industry insights with attendees of the Academy of General Dentistry's "Premier Meeting for General Dentistry" from July 13th to 15th at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.
There were five speakers at the event representing PDS and the PDS Institute, including Dr. Jamie Toop, Jan LeBeau, Dr. Dhaval Patel, Dr. Scott Keys, and Dr. Scott Cairns.
Jamie Toop, DDS and Jan LeBeau, RDH, BS instructed workshops that complemented each other well in highlighting the mounting research on The Mouth-Body ConnectionTM (oral systemic health) and its impact on patients and the future of dentistry. Their workshops focused on steps every dental practitioner can take to better educate patients, partner with local medical doctors, and be more proactive in identifying risk factors for early intervention and management of disease.
Dhaval Patel, DDS instructed three courses on the use of CEREC® CAD/CAM technology in the dental office. He described the techniques and best practices for achieving optimal outcomes when completing posterior and anterior crown, bridge and implant crown restorations.
Three courses on atraumatic tooth extraction and socket preservation bone grafting were presented by Scott Keys, DDS. He presented the techniques and best practices for case selection and management, the selection of materials and instruments, and managing complications to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Scott Cairns, DDS presented a hands-on digital dental photography course. This three-hour course provided attendees with knowledge and practical experience in understanding attributes of various digital cameras, the fundamental shots for dental practitioners, positioning patients and effectively using retractors and mirrors.
