Pace Service Limited By Winter Storm
Passengers advised to avoid travel until snow clearing efforts take effect
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill., Feb. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- As of 6:00 AM, Pace Suburban Bus service is severely hampered by road conditions throughout its six-county service area. Passengers are advised to stay home and avoid all travel unless absolutely necessary.
Pace bus operators and other personnel stayed overnight at garage facilities in order to be on hand for service this morning, but road conditions- including travel bans in Will, Lake, and McHenry counties and impassable roads elsewhere- have severely limited service. With personnel on hand, Pace is prepared to operate as much service as possible as soon as conditions improve.
As of 6:00 AM, the only Pace bus routes operating are routes 309 Lake Street and 318 North Avenue in west Cook County, Route 352 Halsted in south Cook County, and routes 381 95th Street and 383 South Cicero in southwest Cook County. Additionally, Pace is operating service in a loop on Lake Street, Harlem, Madison, and 19th St. that covers portions of five bus routes and connects to the CTA Green Line Station.
The Village of Niles, which operates Pace Routes 411, 412, and 413 as the Niles Free Bus Service, has elected to suspend service on those three routes on February 2.
Passengers who must travel should check www.pacebus.com for updates or call Pace Customer Relations at (847) 364-7223.
We will provide additional updates to the media as information becomes available.
