Pac-12 Hall of Honor Athletes Will Lead Basketball Drills For 500 Kids

WHAT
500 kids ages 8-12 from the Boys & Girls Club (Venice Chapter in LA), will have the rare experience of being coached through basketball drills led by former professional athletes who are being inducted into the Pac-12 Men's Basketball Hall of Honor on March 10, 2012.
WHO
These professional athletes are among some of the Pac-12 basketball greats who will be on-hand to demonstrate the basics of shooting, dribbling and passing, and share their personal insights and love of the sport.
- Lamond Murray left Cal Berkeley as one of the most prolific scorers in Golden Bear history (1992 – 1994). Murray declared for the 1994 NBA draft after his junior year and went to the Los Angeles Clippers. He split 11 seasons in the NBA (1994 – 2006) among the Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto Raptors and New Jersey Nets.
- Ed O'Bannon is one of just five players in UCLA history to start on a UCLA NCAA Championship basketball team (1995), have his Bruin jersey number retired (1996), be inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame (2005) and be inducted into the PAC-12 Hall of Honor (March 2012).He played two years in the NBA with the New Jersey Nets and the Dallas Mavericks, and played an additional seven years of professional basketball overseas.
- George Irvine started all three years (1968 – 1970) and currently ranks on the University of Washington's all-time scoring list with 1,314 points. He played five years with the Virginia Squires and two seasons with the Denver Nuggets. In 1980, he embarked on a 25-year career in the NBA as an assistant coach for the Indiana Pacers, Detroit Pistons and Golden State Warriors and later as a head coach for Indiana and Detroit.

Bank of the West is the official bank of the Pac-12. The bank-sponsored Kids Clinic will provide approximately 500 local, underserved youth with the opportunity to meet professional athletes and be inspired by their journey as college students, Pac-12 athletes and professional sports figures. With basketball as the backdrop, Kids Clinic promotes healthy living through exercise and sports, and supports the ideals of teamwork and fair play.
