PA State Vehicle Auction Begins New Year in 'Classic' Fashion
36 classic vehicles highlight an offering of 500 units
HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- An offering of 36 classic vehicles will highlight 500 units to be offered for purchase by the public during the Commonwealth's first state vehicle auction of the new year to be held on Monday, Feb. 11.
"This vehicle auction is a classic car-lover's dream," state General Services Secretary Sheri Phillips said. "In addition to the quality vehicles always present at our auctions, we will be offering a nice selection of classic automobiles and motorcycles. This will definitely be one of our most unique vehicle auctions."
Classic vehicles include a 1918 Buick, 1970 Subaru 360, 1974 Datsun 260Z, 1959 King Midget, 1967 Datsun 1600, 1970 Datsun 2000, 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS, 1978 Triumph Spitfire, 1968 AMC Javelin, 1968 AMX 390, 1948 Crosley Hotshot and two 1969 Camaros – one a Rally Sport, the other a Super Sport. Classic motorbikes include a 1959 Harley Davidson Tele-Glide and an Admiral Whizzer and Packard Whizzer, both from the 1940s. These particular vehicles were acquired by PennDOT as part of a road-widening project.
An assortment of state agency vehicles, seized vehicles and 30 motorcycles will be available for bid. The public is encouraged to preview the vehicles at the Manheim Auto Auctions, at 488 Firehouse Road, Grantville, Dauphin County, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily starting on Thursday, Feb. 7 through Sunday, Feb. 10.
The auction will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11. Registration opens at 8 a.m. and closes at noon. All revenue generated will be returned to the commonwealth. Buyers may purchase with cash or certified funds in the form of money orders, cashier's checks, certified checks or bank checks – all made payable to "Manheim Central Penn Auto Auction."
