PA State Police: Two Killed, 160 Injured in Easter Driving Period Crashes
Troopers Investigate 455 Crashes on Pennsylvania Highways
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 2, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Two people were killed and 160 others were injured in the 455 crashes investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police during the three-day Easter holiday driving period.
The Easter driving period covered Friday, March 29, through Sunday, March 31. During those three days, state police issued 5,563 speeding citations, charged 321 people with driving under the influence, cited 550 individuals for not wearing seat belts, and ticketed 63 motorists for not securing children in safety seats.
During the 2012 Easter driving period, which covered April 6-8, three persons were killed and 196 others were injured in 470 crashes investigated by troopers.
The statistics cover only those crashes investigated by the state police and do not include incidents to which other law-enforcement agencies responded.
