PA Secretary Wiessmann Reminds Investors to Keep Long-Term Perspective during Periods of Market Volatility
HARRISBURG, Pa., June 30, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- During periods of volatility in financial markets due to national or international events, PA Secretary of Banking and Securities Robin L. Wiessmann reminds investors that a disciplined long-term strategy and understanding risks are among the keys to investing success.
"Over the long term, financial markets do typically provide a positive and even substantial return. Successful investors do not make snap decisions based on the day's headlines. They stick with their plans and invest in good times as well as periods of volatility," Wiessmann said. "Setting goals, learning more about saving and investing towards those goals, and being vigilant and proactive in monitoring investments can ease an investor's concerns in even the most difficult times."
Wiessmann urged investors to discuss market volatility issues with a registered investment professional. She also advised investors to visit the department's website (www.dobs.pa.gov), which contains information on investing developed in partnership with the Investor Protection Trust, the Investor Protection Institute, the North American Securities Administrators Association, the Financial Planning Coalition, the CFA Institute, and Kiplinger's. Of particular interest, she pointed to these publications:
