PA Secretary of Banking and Securities Congratulates Bloomsburg University Students for Advancing in National Banking Study Competition
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 19, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- PA Secretary of Banking and Securities Robin L. Wiessmann today congratulated a group of students at Bloomsburg University for advancing to the final round of the national 2016 Community Bank Case Study Competition.
The Bloomsburg University team will join 12 other college team finalists as they compete to become winner of the competition, which will be announced May 26, 2016. The Bloomsburg University team was chosen from among 23 student teams from 20 colleges and universities around the country participating in the competition.
"Congratulations to the Bloomsburg University team for being named a finalist in the 2016 Community Bank Case Study Competition," said Wiessmann. "I am excited to see our students take an interest in community banking. Community banks play an invaluable role in communities across Pennsylvania, and the research from these students will foster even more insight into the impact of community banks on local and regional business and economies."
The competition encourages students to explore community banking by partnering student teams with local banks to conduct original case studies, focusing on the impact of small business lending efforts by local community banks. The 2016 Community Bank Case Study Competition is sponsored and managed by the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS).
Student members of the Bloomsburg University team include Lauren Quinones (Stroudsburg, PA), Amanda Rambo (Levittown, PA), and Edward Fetterman (Towanda, PA). The students partnered with Mid Penn Bank, working with President and CEO Rory Ritrievi, Regional Retail Manager Tara Latsha, and Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer Richard Kashnoski. Professor Victoria Geyfman served as the team's faculty advisor.
