PA Insurance Department to Hold Public Hearing on Highmark Filing
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 10, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Insurance Department will hold an April 17 public informational hearing in Pittsburgh to discuss the proposed change in control of Highmark and its Pennsylvania insurance subsidiaries. Written comments from a range of interested parties, including doctors, purchasers and other health plans, have been received. In addition, the department has asked almost 200 follow-up questions on the proposal and has engaged a team of legal experts, economists and investment bankers to facilitate the due diligence which is a critical part of the review process.
The hearing will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, at the Westin Hotel at the Convention Center, Allegheny Ballrooms, 1000 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh.
Public comments will continue with an evening session, slated to begin at 7 p.m. Individuals who wish to offer comments at the day or evening sessions are encouraged to pre-register.
The filing, public comments and hearing registration materials are available on the department's website. Visit www.insurance.pa.gov and click on "Highmark/West Penn Hearing." The hearing will also be streamed live via that website.
